Authorisations

Every day, press publications are used, reproduced and distributed by online public communication platforms.

To be lawful, such use, whether in whole or in part, must be licensed in advance by the press publishers and news agencies concerned.

DVP facilitates the licensing process by centralising requests and providing access to all press publications that have been entrusted to it by its members (and which can be consulted here), in return for payment of the any royalties due.

This remuneration takes into account, as provided for by law, factors such as the human, material and financial investments made by press publishers and news agencies, the contribution of press publications to political and general information, and the extent to which press content is reproduced by online public communication platforms.

In order to enable press publishers and news agencies to receive fair and equitable remuneration, online communication platforms are required to provide all relevant and necessary information, in particular information relating to their use of press publications and information required for a transparent assessment of the remuneration due under the related right.
