The Society for Related Rights of the Press (DVP) is embarking on a new phase in its development and has appointed Mélanie Loubersac as Chief Executive Officer.

Since its creation in 2021, the Société des Droits Voisins de la Presse (DVP) has played a decisive role in defending the remuneration of publishers and press agencies against technology companies that reuse their content.

After several years of work, which have enabled DVP to position itself as a key player in the press neighbouring rights ecosystem, the company is now entering a more operational phase, with a view to ensuring sustainable funding for journalism and information in a context of growing digital exploitation of press content.

For this reason, the Board of Directors unanimously approved the appointment of Mélanie Loubersac as Chief Executive Officer of DVP and welcomes the opportunity to benefit from her expertise in this ecosystem.

With its 305 members, DVP is approaching this new phase with determination, bolstered by the conclusion of a licensing agreement with Google announced at the end of 2023, and is currently pursuing several negotiations.

With 15 years of experience in collective management and having served as Director of Audiovisual Distribution at Sacem, Mélanie Loubersac succeeds Caroline Bonin as Chief Executive Officer of DVP.

The latter will continue to provide strategic advice to DVP on legal matters and, alongside Sacem’s Deputy Chief Executive Officer, will focus on the legal issues related to the development of artificial intelligence and the analysis of its impacts, which are crucial in all areas of Sacem’s and DVP’s activities.

Mélanie Loubersac, Chief Executive Officer of DVP, said:
“The press sector faces many challenges, both economic and technological, and of course societal. I am proud to be able to contribute to supporting publishers and press agencies in their fight for the recognition of their rights in the digital world. I would like to thank the entire DVP Board of Directors and its Chairman Jean-Marie Cavada, as well as Cécile Rap-Veber, David El Sayegh and Caroline Bonin, for their trust. I would like to assure all DVP members that our team is fully committed to enabling their collective management organisation to develop and be present on all fronts.”

Jean-Marie Cavada, Chairman of the DVP Board of Directors, said:
“I welcome the creation of a press neighbouring rights department within our negotiating team, Sacem, and am delighted with the positive prospects that this team will be able to achieve in strict application of the law, for the benefit of publishers and press agencies.”
