Related rights of the press around the world

In the European Union, Article 15 of Directive (EU) 2019/790 of 17 April 2019 on copyright and related rights in the Digital Single Market, which creates a related right for the press in Europe for the benefit of publishers and press agencies and regulates online content-sharing platforms, has been transposed in the following countries:

 

Furthermore, although it is not a member of the European Union, Australia also adopted a law on neighbouring rights for the press in February 2021 (News Media and Digital Platforms Mandatory Bargaining Code). Similarly, Canada adopted equivalent legislation in June 2023 (An Act respecting online communication platforms making news content available to persons in Canada C-18).
